Work closely with teachers and SENDCOs to understand the specific needs of SEMH children. Develop a customised plan for each child, focusing on their unique challenges and goals.
Utilise existing targets and goals set for the child over a term or half-term. Implement these goals in a supportive and structured environment.
Teach the child according to the teacher's plan in a separate location within the school, ensuring minimal disruption to the main classroom. Create a safe and nurturing space where the child can focus on learning.
Implement rewards and sanctions in line with the school's behaviour policy. Offer additional incentives such as extra breaks, use of laptops/iPads, or special treats.
Conduct termly reviews to assess progress and reset goals as needed. Provide detailed feedback to teachers, SENDCOs, and parents.
Attend parents' evenings at no extra charge if required, offering insights into the child's progress and strategies for continued support at home.
Offer training and supervision for Early Career Teachers (ECTs) on managing SEMH children and implementing effective behavioural strategies.
Take responsibility for behaviour management, teaching and marking during the intervention period. Log and report any significant incidents to ensure transparency and ongoing communication.
Offer both half-day and full-day sessions to accommodate the needs of the school and the child.
